Prints for a Cause

If you have reached this page through BIPOC Foods Van, welcome to my charity print store! My name is Ariela and I am a film photographer, among many things. ;)
For this batch of prints, I will be donating 15% of all net proceeds to the Gidimt’en Yintah Access Point, along with the many wonderful BIPOC-owned businesses at the pop-up.
However, the remainder will be donated to typhoon relief & aid in my home country, the Philippines.
We are no strangers to tropical cyclones: I grew up in Manila experiencing an average of 20 typhoons a year. I remember Ondoy (2009) and Yolanda (2013) were landmark years, as I entered and graduated from school having experienced the worst super typhoons in the history of planet earth. #GlobalWarming
However, I was lucky to be born with the privilege of being able to see through the flooding of our homes and subdivision roads, while many others do not. Being in a global pandemic adds another level of complexity to this situation, as we are also one of the countries in South East Asia with the highest number of COVID cases.
For now, my organization of choice is the Ateneo Disaster Response and Management (DReaM) Team. I don’t remember much of my freshman year at Ateneo, other than being part of the sesquicentennial (yes, my university is that old) batch of freshies that had to face Typhoon Ondoy during mid-terms. Ateneo DReaM was founded that same year as a result of a simple sentiment: we just want to help others get through this.
Ateneo has taught me many things, and although I do not identify as a religious person, I still value Ignatian ideals such as Magis and being a person for others.
The holidays will certainly look very different this year but my wish is that some things will remain the same: we always have hope for what is to come.

Thank you for helping me raise $315! My heart is immensely full from your generosity, I can’t say enough thank you’s to everyone who’s bought a print, sent a postcard to a friend or simply told me 3 months ago to just fricking start and do it. Please know your hard earned $$$ are directly going to support local charities. Yes. *Charitiesss.* I’ve decided to split the money raised so far in 3 equal parts to go to 3 institutions near and dear to me:
Parirala will be here to stay. The shop will be updated every other month, more photos coming your way.

We've raised $100 so far! A new batch of prints are available for purchase, together with brand new sets of photo cards. If you would like a custom print, this option is now available as well. Thank you sooooo much for all your support, safe to say I won't stop until we hit that goal!

I would like to funnel all net proceeds from this first batch of prints to the Ray-Cam Cooperative Centre. They are a charitable organization located just east of the Downtown East Side, where they run various programs to tackle community challenges such as food insecurity amongst low-income youth, families, and seniors to name a few. (Did you know they have a darkroom for their members?!) You can learn more on their website.
I am aiming to raise $500 after covering printing costs. I will regularly post fundraising updates here.
